Our passion for opals

Australian opals are known as the most colourful and extraordinary gemstones in the world. The word opal originally comes from Sanskrit and means “the jewel”. The ancient Greeks adopted the word “opallios” or “precious stone” and saw in the opal the tears of Zeus.
For us, the Australian opal embodies the most breathtaking impressions Mother Nature has created for us: the colours of the rainbow after a strong thunderstorm, the sparkle of fire in the black of night, the green bluish colour of the ocean to the infinite depth of the universe.
Having had the good fortune to learn this rare craft from perhaps the best opal cutter in Germany, I am now pleased to offer you my opals.
We place the highest value on quality in our workmanship – we don’t have half-heartedly worked fronts and unkind backs!

Australian Opals

Opals consist of a mixture of silicic acid and water, formed over millions of years in the bottom of seas that have long since dried up under the pressure of the surrounding rock.
While quite beautiful opals can also come from Ethiopia or Mexico, Australia is the most important source of the highest quality stones, accounting for over 95% of the world’s quarrying.
Australian opals, unlike the much cheaper Ethiopian opals, are not hydrophanous. This means they do not absorb liquids such as water, creams or lotions. Once soaked with cream, this usually means the end of fire in the Ethiopian opal. Australian opals are insensitive to this. This makes these special gemstones suitable for the processing of individual pieces of jewellery.

Our services for you

Hand-finished to shining beauty on the grinding machine and the polishing stand, only high-quality, beautiful one-of-a-kind pieces are created in our in-house workshop.

We only offer Australian solid opals of the very best quality, all of which have been brought to perfection for you in our own workshop according to the highest standards – we do not offer doublets, triplets, synthetically produced opals or cheap merchandise from Asia.

In our exclusive manufactory we attach great importance to personal contact with our customers. We are at your disposal for questions about opals and for individual consultations!

Whether as pendant, ring or ear jewellery – an opal is always an eye-catcher and individual adornment.
We are also happy to recommend goldsmiths who will work your selected treasures into unique pieces of jewellery.
